Everything you need to know ahead of West End Slowdown

Returning to Gliderol Stadium, Glenelg this Sunday, our West End Slowdown is THE place to be this Father’s Day!

We thought it might be a good idea to give you a run down for the event, so consider this your one place to find out about all things Slowdown starting with…

HOW TO GET THERE

Public transport will be running as per usual Sunday timetables! There is a bus stop directly outside Gliderol Stadium, which is serviced by the 190 and 263 bus routes. Please visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au for more information.

CAR PARKING

Glenelg Primary School has generously opened their carpark as per their usual SANFL game routine. Part proceeds from the parking fees will be donated to Little Heroes Foundation.

Once full, the only other public parking available will be in the surrounding side streets.

Be sure to allow time for parking if you will be arriving closer to the first bounce at 1:30pm.

PRE-GAME ENTERTAINMENT

With the gates opening at 11:00am, we’ve got 2 and a half hours to fill before the first bounce at 1:30pm!

Thanks to the support of many local businesses, this
year our pre-game entertainment includes

  • Face Painting
  • Half time Kick ‘n’ Catch
  • Footy Marking Activities (Specky Events)
  • Hamster Balls (Games 2 U)
  • Laser Tag (Games 2 U)
  • Mobile Games Van (Games 2 U)
  • Cricket Workshop (In2 Cricket)
  • Dance Demonstration (Generation Dance)
  • Sports clinics for young children (Ready Steady Go Kids)
  • Roving Mascots
  • Father’s Day Photo Booth

Close friend of the Foundation and son of our former CEO Katie Bridges, Oscar Bridges will be singing our National Anthem. For the past month, Oscar has performed in the Adelaide cast of The Sound Of Music at Adelaide Festival Centre as Kurt Von Trapp! We are so excited and thankful that Oscar, who will wrap up with The Sound of Music over the weekend, is taking the time out of his busy schedule to perform at our Slowdown!

TEAMS

With the team format changing to an SA Legends v Indigenous All Stars line up, we’ve recruited from around the country for our 2016 West End Slowdown.

To the right is our current team line up! As a late call up, Little Heroes Foundation would like to welcome legendary SA cricketer Shaun Tait to the SA Legends team!

Please be aware that this may not be the final team and that our teams are subject to change.

Little Heroes Foundation would also like to extend a special thanks to Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation Kyam Maher and SA Footy Legend Graham Cornes for supporting the day as our 2016 coaches!

It is important to remember that the West End Slowdown is more than just a game a footy. It’s about raising money to support seriously ill children and their families living in SA.
