LHF Advocacy and Community Action group get to work

Members of the Little Heroes Foundation Advocacy & Community Action Group recently had the opportunity to meet privately with Senator Jane Hume, Senator Anne Ruston and Tom Venning MP.

We had a productive and constructive discussion on several important issues affecting children, families and people with disability, including the proposed NDIS legislation currently before the Senate, the lack of consultation with carers of children in out of home care, and concerns regarding access to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) particularly access to childhood Cancer medications.

We sincerely thank Senator Hume, Senator Ruston and Mr Venning for taking the time to listen to the experiences and perspectives of our advocacy group. We are particularly encouraged by their commitment to ongoing consultation and continued engagement and collaboration with us to achieve practical, evidence
based improvements.

Meaningful change begins with genuine conversations, and last night was an important step forward. We look forward to continuing this collaborative work to ensure the voices of children, families, carers and the disability community are heard where it matters most.
