Childhood Dementia results from progressive brain damage caused by over 100 rare genetic conditions, significantly impacts a child’s development and overall quality of life. Currently, there is no cure, but various support options are available to help families navigate these challenges and enhance their child’s well-being.

The Effects of Childhood Dementia
This genetic disorder causes children to progressively lose vital skills, including the ability to write, read, speak, walk, and play. The deterioration of brain function can occur over months, years, or decades, ultimately affecting the body’s ability to function and survive.

Children with dementia experience:

• Trouble concentrating, understanding, learning and communicating
• Personality changes
• Severely disturbed sleep
• Behavioural issues such as hyperactivity
