Anna Meares completes her first ever half marathon at City to Bay for Little Heroes Foundation!
A big thank you to all of our runners, walkers and wheelers for your support!
The annual Westpac City to Bay returned on Sunday and in 2018, Little Heroes Foundation had very strong representation amongst the thousands of participants!
Students from Marryatville Primary School ran for Little Heroes Foundation (many for the second year in a row), and our ambassador Anna Meares decided to push herself to the limit by running in the new half marathon category!
At 21km, this would be Anna’s longest run, and after following her training through her social media accounts, we knew she was up to the challenge! And she most certainly was, clocking in with a time of 2 hours, 21 minutes and 57 seconds – an amazing achievement!!
A big thank you of course to all of the runners who fundraised as part of their run! Every little bit counts when it comes to supporting our Little Heroes, so thank you for helping us continue to make a difference.
A special mention to our Corporate Relations Manager Tony Modra, who welcomed our team into his shop Boards On The Pier after the race for a well-deserved rest and coffee break, and to our staff and volunteers for giving up their time on a Sunday to support the event.
What’s next for Anna?
In 2019, Anna will also be heading over to Papua New Guinea to participate in a special adventure along the Kokoda Track. The trek will include an Anzac Day ceremony, to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Kokoda campaign.
Little Heroes Foundation is taking expressions of interest to join the team, in what is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience. Email Samantha@littleheroesfoundation.com.au to find out more information.
