Adelaide Crows players give Little Heroes a helping hand

Little Heroes Foundation is excited and proud to maintain a very strong relationship with the Adelaide Football Club. The club’s role in our formation back in 1996, and their ongoing support has been an incredibly important part of our 22 year journey to support children living with cancer or serious illness, and this year, the support continues with a special donation from the 2018 playing list.

Led by our ambassador Tom Lynch, players from the Adelaide Football Club have nominated Little Heroes Foundation as their charity for choice for a donation of $5,000, to support our ongoing services for families in need.

As part of the AFL Players Association’s Players Care Program, every AFL-listed player donates $50 of each match payment to support those in need in the community.

With the help of the Crows Children’s Foundation, Tom took some time out of training last week to spend time with young fans Jack and young sister Izzy (pictured above and below), who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in February 2017, and has since been supported by Little Heroes Foundation.

Also in attendance for the visit was Little Heroes Foundation Chairman Chris McDermott, who spoke about how important it was for the foundation to not only be the recipient of the significant donation, but also the club’s continued generosity in providing opportunities for children to interact with the players.

“For the kids to be part of a world that is such a mystery to them, but they love and talk about it with their friends, and to see the smile it puts on their face, in our field, it is absolutely everything,” McDermott said.

“The charity sector is getting busier and everybody provides different things, so we’re happy to be in the discussion.”

“This donation is really significant for us and it’s good to have that connection and relationship with the Football Club.”
