On Wednesday, 27th August, we locked up some familiar faces inside the historic Old Adelaide Gaol- all for a cause close to our hearts.

The 2025 Detain for Childhood Dementia campaign saw community leaders, media personalities, and supporters spend a cold winter’s night behind bars to raise awareness and funds for children living with dementia. And what a night it was! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we’re beyond excited to share that $26,400 has been raised! These vital funds will go toward replacing Greta’s bike and supporting groundbreaking research into treatments, and ultimately, a cure for Childhood Dementia. This amazing achievement wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible sponsors: Fleurieu Milk Company, Davroe, Greyhound as Pets SA and Schinella’s Market. A huge thank you to Happy Haven OSHC, who went above and beyond in sponsoring Kate’s cell. We’d also like to give a shoutout to Darren from State Security and SAPOL for their unwavering support on the night. A massive thank you goes out to our ‘inmates’ who stepped up in a big way: Kate Collins, Tom Rehn, Tamyka Penglase, and our very own CEO, Chris McDermott.

You all did us proud. And finally, to every person who donated, shared our campaign, or cheered us on- thank YOU. Your support is helping to bring hope, action, and change to the lives of children and families affected by Childhood Dementia. Together, we’re proving that even a night behind bars can help unlock a better future.
