World Potato Congress X Little Heroes Foundation

We are excited to invite you to join us in our efforts to raise awareness and funds for Childhood Dementia through a series of fun events during the World Potato Congress week. Mark your calendars and register your interest in joining one or two events for an unforgettable weekend supporting our cause.

Did you know, Childhood Dementia affects an estimated 700,000 people. Every year, around 50,000 babies are born with a condition that causes Childhood Dementia. This genetic disorder causes a child to progressively lose skills such as the ability to write, read, talk, walk, and play. Currently, there is no cure and most children die before turning 18. With awareness and more research, we can and will improve survival and quality of life for children with dementia.

Little Heroes Foundation aims to contribute to help fund the research required for possible treatments and eventual cures for Childhood Dementia. If you would like to learn more, click the link below:

1:15 pm – Port Adelaide AFL Football Match

Experience the thrill of Aussie Rules Football at its finest with a visit to the legendary Adelaide Oval during the height of ‘Footy Fever.’ Join a roaring crowd of 40 thousand passionate fans as Port Adelaide takes on the Brisbane Lions in an electrifying showdown on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024, at 1:15 pm. AFL, Australia’s beloved sport, brings together communities and generations, showcasing the essence of Australian culture through teamwork, and sheer excitement. Immerse yourself in the action, feel the adrenaline rush, and become part of an unforgettable sporting spectacle.

Port Adelaide is one our state teams who are currently sitting at 3rd on the overall leaderboard. One of our much-loved Little Heroes Ambassadors is Connor Rozee, who is the Port Adelaide captain player and one of the best in the league.

Navigate the stadium with ease using our detailed directions and transport options, and discover a variety of food and drink offerings to keep you fuelled throughout the game. Don’t miss your chance to witness the energy of AFL firsthand at the iconic Adelaide Oval.

10:30 am – 3:00 pm: Botanic Gardens guided tour by Markus Hamence
and Lunch at The National Wine Centre

Immerse yourself in the enchanting Adelaide Botanic Gardens, where every step is a journey of discovery as you adventure through our famous majestic gardens. As a group, we will venture through to the Bicentennial Conservatory and along the Torrens River with a dedicated tour guide. The walk will cap off at the National Wine Centre, where a captivating showcase of Indigenous dance and music awaits. Indulge in a feast for the senses with tastings of Australian and Indigenous cuisines, followed by a mouthwatering Big Aussie Style BBQ, all accompanied by a selection of South Australian and Australian wines, beers, and refreshing beverages.

This experience treks over 5km and is accommodated to all fitness levels for an easy and comfortable experience.

Proposed Schedule

Start: 10.00am Adelaide Botanic Gardens

  • Welcome and brief introduction.
  • Distribution of maps, water bottles, and snacks
  • Group photo opportunity!

Break off into smaller groups each group having a tour guide.

Final stretch towards the Wine centre

You will be provided with a detailed map, marking the start, the end, and optional joining points.

The map will be distributed both digitally and physically, ensuring all participants have access to the map via email before the event and have a physical copy on the day.
