LHF: Helping families when they need it most – Cameron’s Story
Little Heroes Foundation is so excited to be returning as the charity partner for Stadium Stomp in 2016.
This story was originally published on the Stadium Stomp website.
Last year, Stadium Stompers were introduced to 3 of our little heroes, Jed, Ivy and Alex. This year, we would like to introduce you to Cameron.
“Cameron was born healthy & happy into a rural family. He is one of 5 children, with 3 sisters and a brother.
At the age of 5 Cameron was diagnosed with Autism. The family worked hard to help him overcome some of the obstacles he faced due to it. With support from his family, Cameron is very social and incredibly smart, so upon meeting him no one can really tell he is Autistic.
The family then moved forward and left domestic violence behind them, looking forward to a happier, safer life.
Unfortunately the family was dealt a devastating hand, and Cameron was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in September 2015, after Cameron was unwell and had some facial swelling that wouldn’t heal. He was 9 at the time.
Further investigations found that Cameron also has heart issues, which can only be dealt with after the Leukaemia treatment.
Fortunately for the family, Little Heroes Foundation has been there to help brighten their lives in the way of special events to help them smile, food and petrol vouchers to help them live, and a listening ear to help ease their burdens.
“Please help support them in supporting families when they need it most.”
