IN THE MEDIA: Pirate Tony Excited to Sail in Flotilla for Kids

ABOUT 100 boats will sail into Port Adelaide this weekend to raise money for seriously ill children and their families.

The Little Heroes’ Flotilla for Kids will travel up the Port River from Outer Harbor to “salute” the assembled crowd at Hart’s Mill on Sunday.

Last year’s event raised $25,000 to support sick children in South Australia.

This year, boats of all different sizes – each of which will be decorated in accordance with its own theme – are expected to join the flotilla, including the One and All Tall Ship and AFL champion Tony Modra’s boat CrackerJack.

Former Adelaide Crow Modra is excited to be taking part in the flotilla because he has loved being out on the water since he was a child.

“Flotilla for Kids is a great opportunity for me to combine something I love doing with a cause that I am passionate about,” Modra says.

“I hope to see many boaties out on the Port River to help us raise some much needed funds for our little heroes.”

The event will begin at 11am on shore at Hart’s Mill, where there will be activities, such as live music, entertainment and the Wild at Hart markets, for spectators. It costs $55 to register a boat for the Flotilla for Kids.
