Little Heroes Foundation Supports Paediatric Palliative Care

In 2013, Little Heroes Foundation made a $50,000 commitment to provide additional support to seriously ill children and their families being cared for by the Women's and Children's Hospital's Paediatric Palliative Care Service (PPCS).

Our funding provided:

  • Financial assistance so that parents could take extended time off work to be with their child;
  • Special needs equipment to give families the option of caring for their child at home rather than in the hospital;
  • Practical support such as housecleaning to ensure the safest possible environment for immune-compromised children;
  • Financial support allowing families to be together when interstate travel is necessary;
  • Support for siblings including opportunities to share special experiences with their brother/sister; and
  • Professional memory making activities such as photographic sessions, hand printing and individually crafted scrap books documenting special moments in a child's life.
