Little Heroes Foundation is always exploring new and innovative ways to not only raise much needed funds, but to also provide an experience for our supporters.
In recent years, we have hosted a number of events and fundraisers, including:
Slowdown is Little Heroes’ signature event and continues to be a
popular tradition for South Australian families. Since 2000 the game has
featured football legends and celebrities from across the country and
raised valuable funds for seriously ill children and their families. Traditionally, the game sees ex-Port and Crows players battle it out for bragging rights, however recently, Slowdown has transformed to incorporate new team formats and celebrate all elements of Australian Rules Football in South Australia.
Our Mother's Day Luncheon at the National Wine Centre is an opportunity for you to help Little Heroes Foundation celebrate the nation's biggest heroes - our mums! Hosted on the Friday before Mother's Day in May, this luncheon offers a delicious 2 course meal, with fine wines and dessert buffet, with opportunities to bid on some fantastic auction items, listen to entertaining guest speakers and attend a stunning fashion parade along the Wine Centre's iconic ramp.
Heroes Foundation’s renowned Melbourne Cup Luncheon is a major
highlight on our events calendar. The day sells out quickly every year
and is attended by more than 380 guests at the National Wine Centre. From fundraising auctions, stunning decorations, fashion parades and competitions, on site bookies and live race coverage, our Melbourne Cup Luncheon is the place to be in Adelaide on Cup Day each November!
Our Adventure Tours are a major fundraiser for Little Heroes Foundation, and see us take a dedicated team overseas for an exciting challenge. Previously we have taken teams to the Big Apple to compete in the New York Marathon, and Papua New Guinea to follow our soldiers footsteps along the Kokoda Trek. In 2018, we are taking a team to Nepal for the first time, to trek all the way up to Mount Everest Base Camp. Find out more here.
Flotilla for Kids is a fun day out for seriously ill children and their families to participate in the largest flotilla of boats ever seen on the Port River. This event sees a colourful flotilla of boats
motor up the Port River from Outer Harbor into the heart of Port
Adelaide. The boats then circle to ‘salute the crowd’ wharfside in
Inner Harbour. For those in the heart of Port Adelaide along the wharf, Little Heroes Foundation collaborates with local stall holders and market organisers to so there is plenty to keep the crowd entertained.
Although Flotilla For Kids did not return to Port Adelaide in 2018, Little Heroes Foundation intends to bring this fun event back in 2019.
Each year, Little Heroes Foundation organises a team of runners and walkers to tackle the Sunday Mail City to Bay Fun Run! Perhaps one of SA's most famous running events, the City to Bay takes participants along a 12km route down Anzac Highway from the heart of the city to the beautiful Glenelg beach.
A popular fundraiser for schools and charities, City to Bay is always a fun way to support our Little Heroes, and has raised thousands for our ongoing projects.
