’Alex’s Playground’ is 5 years old today

Over $66,000 worth of play equipment has been provided to families in SA.

On this day, five years ago, Little Heroes Foundation launched a brand new initiative to help support children living with a serious illness.

‘Alex’s Playground’ is a part of our Little Heroes Care program, and provides families with to their own backyard play equipment, meaning children with compromised immune systems don’t miss out on important play time! It is also a great way for siblings of seriously ill children to make fun memories with their brother or sister during treatment.

The program was inspired by Alex Tann, who has battled a brain tumour since January 2013. You can read Alex’s full story here.

Since it was launched on March 20th 2013, Alex’s Playground has provided over $66,000 worth of play equipment for families in need.

It is thanks to the continued support of our dedicated supporters, including a $10,000 donation earlier this year from the Liquor Industries Golf Day, that this program continues to make a difference.

Little Heroes Foundation would like to send a big thank you to the Tann family, for sharing Alex’s inspiring story with us all those years ago, which helped create this service for families just like them. And to all who have supported or made a donation for this initiative, we thank you!
